Land Records

1919 map of Bellingham, Massachusetts
This 1919 map of Bellingham, Massachusetts shows the location of the Town Farm part of what was once known as Partridgetown. North is to the right.

Eleazer inherited his father's homestead in Medfield and resided there until about 1723, when he purchased a tract of land in Bellingham and removed there. This property was in the vicinity of what is now North Bellingham, which for a century and a half was known as Partridgetown.[4]

Samuel Rich purchased part of Rawson's Farm in 1702. A year later (1703) he sold this portion to Eleazer. Eleazer bought in 1720 for 26 pounds, an additional 102 acres of "wildland" in Rawson's Farm, 1/ 2 of 740 acres and other tracts, all from Thomas Sanford, with the buildings. This area would become known as Partridgetown. Partridgetown was a part of the valley of Stall Brook on Farm Street, including the town farm and three others. Farm street ran from Caryville by the town farm to Hartford Ave. again. In 1919 one descendant still lived on part of this land.[5] The old place seems to have come into possession of his son-in-law David Ellis, who sold it in 1732 to Jonathan Wight.[6]

Will

Eleazer's will was proved 2 Dec 1736. Bequests were made to his sons Eleazer, Job, Joseph, Benjamin, and Zachariah; his daughter Abigail Clark; and three of his grandchildren, Joseph Ellis, Sarah Ellis and Reuben Ellis.

In his will Eleazer Partridge, refers to his son, Zachariah Partridge: "Was my son being yet young" and desired that he receive £10 upon becoming of age, and to be apprenticed to such trade as he may choose.[7]
