View of Partridge Lake, vol 1, page 524

Partridge Lake, Littleton, New Hampshire

Partridge Pond has been nearly surrounded with cottages which are the summer houses of many people of this town and of Lisbon. More than two hundred years ago Nathaniel Partridge settled on what is now known as the Hard place, just over the line in Lyman. The outlet of the pond is in that town, though nearly all its waters are in Littleton.

William Partridge of Medfield, Mass., and His Descendants

In 1909 George Homer Partridge (GHP) published his second genealogy of the Partridge family in the New England Historical and Genealogical Society Register and titled it William Partridge of Medfield, Mass., and His Descendants. This genealogy was published in the January 1909 edition of NEHGS Register (vol. LXIII) pages 90-95. This same genealogy was subsequently published in 1909 by the Press of David Clapp & Son in Boston, Massachusetts in book format, being an exact reprint of the original article. GHP had previously published his Partridge genealogy. Descendants of John Partridge of Medfield, Mass in 1904. John Partridge was the brother to William Partridge.

Disputed Marriages of Rachel Partridge (1669-1717)

It became quite obvious as I researched the Partridge-Daniell connections in Medfield, that past genealogists had gotten a kinship determination incorrect. This article is an attempt to right their wrong, and as a result, correct what you may have recorded in your family tree. Jameson states in his history that Joseph Daniell, son of Joseph and Mary (Fairbanks) Daniell, married Rachel Partridge, daughter of John and Magdalene (Bullard) Partridge. This is untrue. The will of John Partridge written in 1700 clearly bequeathes “unto my Son in Law Theophilus Clark and my Daughter Rachel his wife…” This evidence clearly defines that …

James Monroe Partridge (1836-1905)

This is an older research article that has been moved to the new format. Since the initial writing of this article in 2002, I have made a match for James and identified him as the likely son of William A. Partridge of Georgia.

The Four Josiah Partridge’s

One would think that proving four generations of Josiah Partridge’s would be relatively simple. But this line of the Partridge family has remained difficult to track for over a century. It starts with Josiah Partridge, son of Nathaniel Partridge and Lydia Wright of Medfield, Massachusetts. Nathaniel was the eldest son of William Partridge and Sarah Colburn of Medfield, Massachusetts. Josiah was the 9th of 13 children born to his parents, and his descent is the easiest to prove of the four Josiah’s!

A Study into the Ancestry of John, William, and Margery Partridge of Medfield, MA

Information submitted by Betty Harris, Priscilla McElvein and Dennis Partridge The ancestry of the Medfield Partridge’s has been listed incorrectly over the years (including by me). Too often it seems that good honorable researchers are simply replicating what has been listed as the ancestry of a person instead of actually conducting the research for themselves. As with the ancestry of George Partridge this appears to have happened with this branch of the family as well. The most popular ancestry reported has come from the publication of the Partridge Genealogy by George H. Partridge. Page 3 states the following: It may …

Captain John Partridge of Navestock, England

Captain John Partridge was first indicated as a possible father of the Medfield, Mass. Branch of the Partridge family by the NEGHS back in 1903, and privately printed in 1904 in the Partridge Genealogy, by George H. Partridge: It may be well, however, for the benefit of those who desire to extend their researches to England, to call attention to the fact that in the Visitation of Essex [1]Harl. Soc. Pub., xiii., part 1, p. 465, which was made in the year 1634, the children of Captain John Partridge of Navestock, were John, aged about 14 years, William, Jane and Margarett. From …
