Reuben Partridge (1744-)

Reuben Partridge was born to Samuel Partridge and Mary Blood in Franklin, Massachusetts, Apr 14, 1744. He married there, Apr 7, 1768, Mary Hill. They removed to Keene, New Hampshire, before 1780, and later to Braintree, Vermont, where they thereafter resided. He served in the Revolutionary War from New Hampshire as a private in Ashley’s Regiment of New Hampshire Militia. They had eight children (only six are given below).

1. Lois Partridge, born Dec 15, 1768; died in infancy.
2. Lewis Partridge, born Sep 7, 1771.
3. Lucina Partridge, born Jul 21, 1773.
4. Lucretia Partridge, born in 1776; d, Aug 23, 1827; married Jan 23, 1793, Ebenezer White of Braintree, Vermont, where they resided.
5. David Partridge, born Aug 15, 1780, in Keene, New Hampshire; married May 7, 1806, Polly Riford of Braintree, Vermont, where they resided. He died Jan 21, 1865 from heart disease. Children:
   1. Sylvander Partridge, born Mar 14, 1807; married May 20, 1836, Amanda P. Wilcox of Dorchester, Massachusetts. Removed to Minnesota before returning to Braintree. One child.
      • Ellen Louise Partridge, born Sep 1840; married about 1863, William W. Wilcox of Missouri, and lived in West Somerville, Massachusetts.
   2. Elmira Partridge, born Aug 20, 1808; died Sep 10, 1809.
   3. Polly Partridge, born Jun 23, 1810; died Nov 26, 1881; unmarried.
   4. Vernon David Barron Partridge, born Apr 3, 1812; died 30 Mar 1890 from consumption; married Jan 11, 1843, Lavina R. Platt. No children.
   5. Lusena Partridge, born May 2, 1814; died 17 Jan 1875; married Jan 24, 1839, Lewis Strong Howard. Children.
   6. Louisa Elmira Partridge, born Dec 2, 1816; married Aug 27, 1840, Jeptha Howard, Jr. Children.
   7. Rachel Melinda Partridge, born Nov 27, 1818; died 29 Sep 1891, buried at Mann Cemetery in Braintree; married Dec, 1842, Winthrop Sargent. Lived in Randolph, Vermont. No children.
   8. Sarah Partridge, born 29 May 1821; died 17 Jan 1854; married 02 Jun 1850, Braintree, Vermont, Rufus Hutchinson of Orange, Massachusetts, son of Rufus and Abigail (Brackett) Hutchison. One child.
   9. Joseph Partridge, born Jun 23, 1826; died Jul 14, 1874; married Jan 1, 1854, Lncinda E. Howard. Eight children.
6. Asa Partridge, born 01 Aug 1782.
7. Polly Partridge, born 11 Jun 1784.
8. Triphena Partridge, born 22 May 1786.
9. Samuel Partridge, born Jan, 1791; died Jul 1, 1859; resided in Braintree, Vermont; married 1 Feb 1821, Mary Bass. Children:
   1. Mary Ann Partridge, born Oct 20, 1821; married Elisha Mann, Jr. Lived in Wisconsin.
   2. Edward Martin Partridge, born Jun 11, 1824; married twice and resided in Pomfret, Vermont
   3. Edwin Orlando Partridge, married Mary Whitney; went to St. Paul, Minnesota and died about 1880, dropping dead on the street.
   4. Emeline Partridge, married Augustus Harlow of Pomfret, Vermont; lived and died there.
