Jabez Partridge (1748-c1842)

Jabez Partridge was born to Jonathan Partridge and Anne Phipps in Sherborn, Massachusetts, 11 Dec 1748. He married, 19 May 1772, Anna Twitchell, born in Sherborn, 24 May 1751, daughter of Jonathan and Deborah (Bullard) Twitchell. They resided at Sherborn until about 1780, when they removed to Gardner, Massachusetts, where they afterwards lived. Jabez was baptized as an adult on 19 Aug 1810 in Gardner. He resided in the south part of Gardner, where his grandson Seneca Partridge resided in 1860. He was one of the first inhabitants in the town. Jabez died about 1842 and Ann about 1834. No […]

John Partridge (1746-)

John Partridge was born to Jonathan Partridge and Anne Phipps in Sherborn, Massachusetts, Oct 28, 1746. He married at Barre, Massachusetts, Oct 7, 1773, Mrs. Phebe Boyden, widow of Micah Boyden and daughter of Silas and Deborah (Buck) Sears, of Greenwich, Massachusetts. They resided at Barre, where the births of four children are recorded. John’s death is not recorded in the Barre town records but his wife is, and she dies there on 7 Jun 1825, a. 76 yrs., and she is listed as a widow at the time. The location of the burial for John and Phebe is unknown.

Reuben Partridge was born to Jonathan Partridge and Anne Phipps in Medway, Massachusetts on 21 Nov 1741. He married, 6 Feb 1766, Mary Perry, born in Sherborn, Massachusetts, 2 Apr 1745, daughter of Moses and Deborah (Ivery) Perry. They resided in Sherborn until 1789, when they removed to Gardner, Massachusetts, where they resided thereafter [1]Herrick’s Hist, of Gardner. All but the youngest of their children were born in Sherborn. Timothy Partridge was born to Benoni Partridge and Mehetabel Wheelock in West Medway, Massachusetts, 18 Jan 1727. He married, 15 Jan 1755, Abigail Barber, born in Medway, Massachusetts, 27 Mar 1728, daughter of Joseph and Abigail (Hawes) Barber. She died 22 Feb 1809. He received one half of his father’s homestead in West Medway, Massachusetts, where he always resided. He was in the Colonial and Revolutionary service [1]Mass. Archives. Abel Partridge (1765-1826)

Abel Partridge’s introduction to Colonial life in New England was less than desirable when the Medfield, Massachusetts, town clerk, John Baxter, as copied by Henry Adams in 1850, inscribed upon the town records that: “Supposed” seems to be the favored method employed by Medfield town clerks to document upon the town records that a couple had a child out of wedlock. It differs though with how Josiah Partridge was listed. His claim was to be a “reputed” son of Josiah Partridge. William Partridge of Medfield, Mass., and His Descendants

In 1909 George Homer Partridge (GHP) published his second genealogy of the Partridge family in the New England Historical and Genealogical Society Register and titled it William Partridge of Medfield, Mass., and His Descendants. This genealogy was published in the January 1909 edition of NEHGS Register (vol. LXIII) pages 90-95. This same genealogy was subsequently published in 1909 by the Press of David Clapp & Son in Boston, Massachusetts in book format, being an exact reprint of the original article. GHP had previously published his Partridge genealogy. Descendants of John Partridge of Medfield, Mass in 1904. John Partridge was the brother to William Partridge.
