Preserved Partridge (1709-)

Preserved Partridge was born to Benoni Partridge and Mehetabel Wheelock in Medfield, Massachusetts (now West Medway, Massachusetts), 13 Mar 1709. He married, 10 Nov 1787, Catharine Armstrong, and soon after settled in Holliston, Massachusetts. He was also in Milford, Massachusetts, as early as 1750, and as late as 1754 [1]Ballou’s Hist, of Milford. He was in the colonial service’ in 1755 [2]Mass. Archives. He removed as early as 1761 to Cumberland County, Maine, settling near Gorham. Two daughters were married at Gorham before 1766. Jonathan Partridge (1693-1758)

Jonathan Partridge was born to John Partridge and Elizabeth Adams in Medfield (now Millis), Massachusetts, Nov 25, 1693. He drew land in Medway, Massachusetts, in 1713, and was selectman there in 1738. His farm lay about a mile north of Medway village. In 1742, he sold this place to his brother James, and removed to Sherborn, Massachusetts. He resided there about ten years, and then removed to Barre, Rutland District, Massachusetts, where he died about 1758. He married three times: first, 13 Nov 1717, Elizabeth Learned, born in Framingham, Massachusetts, 27 Jul 1696, daughter of Isaac and Sarah (Bigelow) Learned.

Samuel Partridge (1671-1752)

Samuel Partridge was born in Medfield, Massachusetts, 22 Feb 1671, to John Partridge and Magdalen Bullard. He drew land in the Black Swamp in 1702 [1]Jameson’s History of Medway, p. 40.. His lot lay along the Charles river in the south part of this tract, which, in 1713, became the town of Medway, Massachusetts, and is now Rockville. Abel Partridge (1765-1826)

Abel Partridge’s introduction to Colonial life in New England was less than desirable when the Medfield, Massachusetts, town clerk, John Baxter, as copied by Henry Adams in 1850, inscribed upon the town records that: Supposed seems to be the favored method employed by Medfield town clerks to document upon the town records that a couple had a child out of wedlock. It differs though with how Josiah Partridge was listed. His claim was to be a “reputed” son of Josiah Partridge. Abel Partridge 1739-1814

Abel Partridge was born to Seth Partridge and Sarah Ellis in Medfield, Massachusetts, Nov. 14, 1739. He sold out his rights in his father’s estate to his brother Nathan Partridge. His wife’s name was Miriam _______. She died in 1799, “after having been supported by the town.” Abel was also a public charge, and died 30 Mar. 1814. Elisha Partridge was born to Edward Partridge and Sarah Jones in Medfield, Massachusetts, 8 July 1734. He married twice first, in Wrentham, Massachusetts, 17 Mar. 1756, Dorcas Pond, born there 20 June 1740, died 2 Feb. 1778, daughter of Israel and Dorcas (Clark) Pond; and secondly, in Wrentham, 28 Jan. 1779, Sarah Fales. Elisha resided in Wrentham (Franklin) until about 1780, when he removed to Thomaston, Maine, where he died in 1787. He enlisted from Franklin, Massachusetts, in 1775-1776, in the Revolutionary army. Nathaniel Partridge was born to William Partridge and Sarah Colburn in Medfield, Massachusetts, 3 Nov 1660. He was a weaver, and resided in Medfield, where he served two terms as selectman, and was town treasurer in 1709-10. He taught school in the village in 1713 and again in 1722.
