John Partridge of Medfield, Mass., and His Descendants

904 George Homer Partridge (GHP) published his first genealogy of the Partridge family in the New England Historical and Genealogical Society Register and titled it John Partridge of Medfield, Mass., and His Descendants. This genealogy was published in the 1903 edition of NEHGS Register (vol. LVII) pages 50-58, 184-192, 281-288, and 389-397. This same genealogy was subsequently published in 1904 by the Press of David Clapp & Son in Boston, Massachusetts in book format, being a reprint in part of the original article. The introduction, the index and the frontispiece are new. GHP subsequently published his  Descendants of William Partridge of Medfield, Mass in 1904. John Partridge was the brother to William Partridge.

Joshua Partridge (1745-1802)

Joshua Partridge was born to Joshua Partridge and Elizabeth Kingsbury in Medway, Massachusetts, April 20, 1745. He married, Sep 24, 1767, Hannah Cutler, born Sep 18, 1744, daughter of John and Hannah (Plimpton) Cutler of Medfield, Massachusetts. She died Jun 19, 1806, in Medway, where they resided. He died Aug 15, 1802. He was sergeant in Captain Lovell’s Co., Fourth Massachusetts Regiment, in service from Apr 19; 1775, to Dec 8, 1776. Children: Sources

Phineas Partridge (1777-1845)

Phineas Partridge (Phinehas Partridge), was born to Eleazer Partridge and Lois Rockwood, 16 Mar 1777 in Franklin, Massachusetts; died 14 Dec 1845 in Medway, Massachusetts; married (1) 7 May 1801, Abigail Allen, daughter of Jonathan and Abigail (Harding) Allen, born 7 Oct 1777 in Medfield, Massachusetts, died 24 May 1819 in Franklin; married (2) 1 Nov 1819, Polly Wheeler, born 27 Sep 1790 in Franklin; died 9 Jan 1866; resided in Franklin. Resided in Frankin and Roxbury, Massachusetts. They are both buried in the Union Street Cemetery in Franklin. Jabez Partridge (1748-c1842)

Jabez Partridge was born to Jonathan Partridge and Anne Phipps in Sherborn, Massachusetts, 11 Dec 1748. He married, 19 May 1772, Anna Twitchell, born in Sherborn, 24 May 1751, daughter of Jonathan and Deborah (Bullard) Twitchell. They resided at Sherborn until about 1780, when they removed to Gardner, Massachusetts, where they afterwards lived. Jabez was baptized as an adult on 19 Aug 1810 in Gardner. He resided in the south part of Gardner, where his grandson Seneca Partridge resided in 1860. He was one of the first inhabitants in the town. Jabez died about 1842 and Ann about 1834. No

Preserved Partridge (1709-)

Preserved Partridge was born to Benoni Partridge and Mehetabel Wheelock in Medfield, Massachusetts (now West Medway, Massachusetts), 13 Mar 1709. He married, 10 Nov 1787, Catharine Armstrong, and soon after settled in Holliston, Massachusetts. He was also in Milford, Massachusetts, as early as 1750, and as late as 1754 [1]Ballou’s Hist, of Milford. He was in the colonial service’ in 1755 [2]Mass. Archives. He removed as early as 1761 to Cumberland County, Maine, settling near Gorham. Two daughters were married at Gorham before 1766. Samuel Partridge (1704-1774)

Samuel Partridge was born to Samuel Partridge and Hannah Mason in Medfield, Massachusetts, (now Rockville, Massachusetts), 6 Nov 1704. He settled in Wrentham, Massachusetts (now Franklin, Massachusetts), where his children were born. He married, 28 Dec 1736, Mary Blood. She died 29 Jul 1775. Zachariah Partridge (1720-1799)

Zachariah Partridge was born to Eleazer Partridge and Elizabeth Allen in Medfield, Massachusetts, on 22 Mar 1720. He settled in Walpole. His father referred to him in his will as ” my son, being yet young,” and desired that he be apprenticed ” to such trade as he may choose.” He was also to receive £10 upon becoming of age [1]Suffolk Co.
